Options Morning 2018

On the morning of Saturday 17th March, Year 9 students and their parents braved the snowy weather to attend Options Morning.  This is an important event in The Urswick School calendar where students receive information about their GCSE options, but also have a unique opportunity to meet and learn from a range of professionals.  Over 25 volunteers representing careers from all areas of the public and private sector very kindly give up their time in order to talk to our students and parents, to share their own career pathways and to inspire their future choices.  Feedback from both parents and volunteers about the event was extremely positive.

99% of parents agreeing or strongly agreeing that it was a useful and informative event.  Volunteer professionals comments included that it was ‘an amazing opportunity’, ‘a great way to help students make positive choices for their future’, that ‘it was really nice to see how invested the school is in its students’ and that it was ‘invaluable to ‘local’ kids to get ‘local’ people involved’.  One professional even commented that she ‘wished my school had done something similar’.
