Overview of the course
This course introduces you to Public Services, investigating the skills, knowledge and understanding required for working in this sector. Completing this course provides a solid foundation to further your studies in this area. We have developed links with the police force, army and fire brigade
You will learn about the various Public Services and develop a range of skills including first aid, leadership and teamwork. To be successful on the course you will need to be able to solve problems, meet deadlines, and work effectively within a team.
Which topics will I study?
You will complete a range of units covering different aspects of public services, including: Public Service Careers, Wellbeing and Fitness, Developing Personal Skills for leadership and Personal Skills for the Public Service.
How is the course assessed?
The course is assessed through coursework assignments. You will be provided with assignments which record and evaluate your learning and experiences.
How will I learn?
You will be supported to develop and build the confidence to promote your personal skills and qualities.You will attend educational visits, gain a certificate in First Aid, engage in group discussions and complete credits from The Public Services qualification.
Today’s workforce has to be able to solve problems, meet deadlines, work in a team, and keep fit, all of which are reflected in the units offered. Typically, this course involves visits to a variety of organisations within the public sector such as local primary schools. We also host guest speakers from the army, fire brigade and police force so that you will be able to find out more about particular careers.
What are the career opportunities?
This course offers you a valuable insight into the role and purpose of Public Services. It is designed to enable you to discover how Public Services function, and gain an understanding of what is expected within this field. You will research the entry requirements, selection process and undertake a range of physical tests used by the public services.
