Peter , aged 14, played the Grand Organ of St Paul's Cathedral to a 2,000 strong congregation on Thursday.

Peter has been receiving lessons at school for nearly three years, under the tutelage of Makoto James, a former organ scholar of Oxford University.  He has previously played the organ at St John at Hackney Church and in school. He is the first child who anyone can remember playing the organ at St Paul’s, which, as one of the largest pipe organs in the UK, is described by Cathedral staff as a ‘national treasure’. Peter played Bach’s ‘Little Prelude Number 6 in G Minor’.

Peter said

“It was so exciting and I am very proud of myself, it made me feel really happy”

Richard Brown, Executive Head said: ‘It was such a thrill as organ music played by Peter filled the cathedral. He has worked so hard and it is such an achievement to reach the required standard to be allowed to play at St Paul’s’.

The service was organised by the London Diocese and featured schools from across London.
