Tea with The Head 2021

The seaside came to Urswick for this year’s extra special ‘Tea with the Head’. Those learners in Years 7 and 8 who had achieved 120 credits were treated with a marquee in the playground, beach games, an ice cream van, drinks and cakes. It was a really special afternoon. Urswick’s new Student Leadership Team applauded students who had gained the required number of credits as they entered the marquee for their rewards.

Credits are issued by staff members for excellent effort, high quality work and behaviour, and, contributing positively to The Urswick community. 120 students gained 120 credits including by submitting work during lockdown. Mr Brown emerged from behind a specially created office door marked ‘Headteacher’s Summer Office’ whilst Mr Rotimi led us in a prayer of thanksgiving. The seaside fun included ‘Hook a Duck’ and games whilst the ice cream van dispersed a never-ending amount of lollies and ninety nines.

Hopefully those students in Year 7 who did not qualify for ‘Tea with the Head’ will work harder and produce more homework in order to get 120 credits next year.

Students wrote postcards to their staff member of choice:

“Thank you so much for putting effort into teaching. The past two years have been a blast and I am so grateful.”

“I want to thank you for helping me on my path to greatness”

“It has been a pleasure joining this incredible school and having you as my Urswick Parent. I enjoyed being your student.”

“Thank you for this wonderful academic year”

Thanks to Mr Stuart Bennett (Assistant Head) who organised ‘Tea with the Head’ along with Mr Wood, Ms Merchant-Hall, Heads of Learning and Urswick Parents.
