Urswick Celebrates Christmas

The snow and ice did not prevent us from returning to St John at Hackney Church for our Carol Service. We enjoyed a ‘Christmas Mash-up’ played by our Organ Scholar, Peter Maku (Year 8), who must be one of the youngest organ soloists around.

The Urswick Choir led us in the singing of ‘Once in Royal David’s City’ and a year 8 drama group performed a reading of ‘Another Night Before Christmas’. We also heard a reading from the Muslim Poet Rumi and in his greetings to the school, Mr Brown reminded everyone of our prayer to ‘help us to be a school of peace, hope and love’ a message shared by those of all faiths and no faith.

The previous day staff and students enjoyed a fantastic Christmas lunch prepared by Harrison Catering. Urswick will continue to give every child a free school lunch throughout 2023.

A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from The Urswick School.
