Stepping Stones

Stepping Stones is an innovative, bespoke transition curriculum, developed in partnership with a group of schools working with the GLA. It is unique to Year 7.

The Stepping Stones course is designed to make every student’s transition to Secondary School as successful as possible.  Students will be guided through the differences between Primary and Secondary and will have an opportunity to discuss and reflect on these and consider the new skills and habits they will need to develop to meet the challenges presented to them.  Students will also look at developing their skills as successful students: notably teamwork and communication. The course also delivers key elements of relationships education, including looking at friendship, bullying and how to combat it and discrimination of different types.

The Stepping Stones programme also includes enrichment elements and notably a Peer Mentoring programme where Year 10 students will meet on a weekly basis with a cohort of Year 7s and assist them with any areas they may need support with.
